Tia

Hello, I’m Tia! Master colorist, and owner here at The Eclectic Chair. I started the cosmetology program I would graduate from almost 1 year to the day later, in 2006; I was 17. I had always known I would work in a salon. I was inspired by my mom, the salon she worked in, and the professionals I was around as a child. I loved the work she did, and I knew I would follow in her foot steps for as long as I can remember. I began booth renting less than 3 months after receiving my license, working 2 and 3 jobs, just to cover the expenses it would take to dive into a subcontracting position from the very beginning. My mentors had prepared me well for what it would require of me to build a clientele, to continue educating myself, to pay my bills, and to ultimately reach my dream of owning a salon one day. I had the opportunity to contract with 2 salons in the first 5 years. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the education I received, and experiences I had, within those businesses. I grew tremendously in the environments I started within, and I am forever grateful for those moments that shaped my career. In 2012, The Eclectic Chair was born. This business is not today, what it once was. We’ve learned a lot, we have grown a lot, and we have never stopped reaching for those big goals. Since our opening date, we have become a Davines concept salon, I have grown to love this company, and what it means to be in partnership with them. Our salon is consistently working towards sustainability, clean beauty, and understanding more about these facets within our industry. I am learning to love and embrace my naturally flawed and beautiful self, and I work to help others do that too. I have always believed the salon should be a place to enhance what is already there; I believe in authenticity, self love, and holistic health. This space reflects that more and more each year, and I couldn’t be more in love with the people who feel, and find solace in this space as well. I am now rounding the corner to our 10 year anniversary, and as I approach this milestone, I’ve had such a need for reflection. To understand at this juncture, where we are going, where we’ve been, and why we are still doing what we are doing, today. That answer has, and will always be… for the lives we touch, and the opportunity we have to be a strong and loving influence to others. To be that unified collective, who can stand together with one goal in mind. To lift each other up. To radiate positivity. The world needs more love, and maybe that starts with great hair.
